Elwood Willard Sheffer

SHEFFER, Elwood W. of Forney, born February 4, 1921, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends under the tender care of Hospice on September 25, 2011. Bud was born and raised in Portland, IN. on February 4, 1921. On December 8, 1941 he married Helen Hartzell. He was called into the service of his country and fought in WWII. After the war, he and Helen moved to Ft. Wayne, IN where they raised their 4 children. Bud is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Helen I. Sheffer; son, Richard D. Sheffer & his wife, Janet of Valparaiso, IN; daughter, Patricia S. Ashworth & her husband, Larry of New Haven, IN; daughter, Debra J. Miller and her husband, Daniel of Forney, TX; daughter, Kathy M. Elzey & her husband, Dale of Moreland, GA.; and 6 grandchildren. Graveside service will be 10:45AM Thursday September 29, 2011 at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, TX. A reception will be held at the family home after the services. In lieu of flowers memorials and donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mesquite, P. O.
