Elton Lee Williams, born March 20, 1953 in Nocona, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2007.The oldest of four children, Elton graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1971, where he played French horn in the Spruce Apache Band.While in high school, he excelled in his study of auto mechanics, ultimately winning the Plymouth Troubleshooting Contest. After high school, Elton married and started a family.A hard-working father of two, Elton worked for years as a mechanic at Jim Allee Oldsmobile and Texas Oklahoma Express.In 1985, Elton began his 21-year career as an electrician for the Dallas Independent School District. While raising his children, Elton cooked breakfast for his family, including sausage gravy, every Sunday morning before church.The family also enjoyed nightly meals together and family campouts. As his son grew older, Elton started Boy Scout Troop 583 at their church and served as Scoutmaster.His years in Scouting included weekly meetings, monthly campouts, annual summer camps and becoming an expert in campfire and Dutch oven cooking.Under his leadership, two of his scouts achieved the rank of Eagle. Elton's other interests included listening to blues music, playing guitar, hunting, fishing, amateur radio and gun collecting.Any member of his family will tell you that he loved Texas history and was immensely proud to have lived his entire life in this great state. Elton was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Williams and brother, Jeff Williams.He is survived by his mother, Pat Williams; son, Greg Williams and his wife Nancy; daughter, Angela Mullino; grandchildren Sean, Ryan & Christian Mullino, Sidney & Jonathan Williams; brother, Steve Williams; sister, Pam Provin and her husband Dennis; and many other loving family and friends. Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at New Hope Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
