Elijah Marquette Brown

January 18, 1985 — May 23, 2017

Elijah Marquette Brown was born January 18, 1985 in Galveston, Texas and passed away on May 23, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Elijah grew up in Mesquite, Texas and graduated from North Mesquite High School in 2004. Elijah found Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was instrumental in his family finding or returning to a relationship with Christ as well. He attended North Mesquite Assembly of God church and was active in their youth department where he formed many long lasting relationships. Elijah served a short but memorable time in the United States Army. He held a myriad of jobs with one of his favorites being his time managing a local portrait studio. He truly enjoyed making their clients smile and laugh. When he wasn’t working, Elijah loved spending time in the outdoors and fishing. He loved playing board games, dominoes, and Rook. While he enjoyed many sporting events with his family and friends, basketball was the only one he truly loved. Elijah liked reading, and the subject matter ranged from religious literature to a Louis L’Amour western. His love of cartoons and movies was legit! Another little known pass time was visiting a good garage sale. Many of us still have gifts that were his hand-selected treasure. There are a few quirky things that were particular to Eli. He was a frequent groomer of eyebrows, he preferred a long, luxurious bath to a shower any day, he could break out an unexpected cleaning or room arranging binge at very random moments, and he was a germ-a-phobe. Elijah never met a stranger. Elijah’s friends and family will remember him for his great sense of humor. He had a way of making everyone laugh. He was very kind hearted and would give the shirt off his back to one in need. Elijah loved his family and was loved deeply in return. One of the happiest moments of Elijah’s life was the birth of his only son Karsten Elijah in 2005. Elijah was preceded in death by his grandfathers Glenn Brown and Joe Castor, grandmother Grandma Liz, Uncle David Morris, and Aunt LaJuan. Elijah is survived by his son Karsten Brown, his parents Tim and Rhonda Morris, and father Aubrey Brown, his four brothers Christopher Morris and wife Christina Doyle, Chris Page, Kelly Morris and wife Stephanie, Timothy Morris and wife Becca. Elijah’s grandparents are Peggy Cockerham and Jim Logan, Margaret Castor, and Wayne Allen.Aunts and uncles are Dena and Jerry Nutt, Natalie and Jeff Holyfield, Joe and Jamie Castor, Greg Morris, Gene and Setsu Morris, Neil and Jeanette Morris, Sanae and Bobby Cordell, April Matlock. He is survived by 9 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. A celebration of Elijah’s life will be Friday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Teen/Life Challenge of Dallas, P.O. Box 181794 Dallas, Texas 75218.
