Eldonna Marie Heapy Small was born on June 8, l949 at Loup City, Nebraska, the third child of Raymon and Mary Alice Wing, Heapy. She departed this life on June 24, 2016 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, after a long struggle with injuries from a March 20th car accident. Eldonna grew to adulthood on the family farm homesteaded by her great grandfather.She attended Clear Creek, District 25 and Litchfield Public School at Litchfield, Nebraska.She was baptized and an active member of the Litchfield Christian Church.Eldonna enjoyed kittens and even took a farm cat to Ohio with her! She was active in 4-H and was very good at playing the piano.She enjoyed boating, water skiing and many picnics with her family.In high school Eldonna was in band, choir, and volleyball. She graduated from Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska with a BA in Education. August 29, 1970, Eldonna married Brian Dale Small of Cozad, Nebraska.Two sons were born to this union:Eric Jeffery and Adam Jeremy.The Smalls lived in Nebraska, Ohio, and Michigan before moving to Mesquite, Texas.Eldonna taught pre-school at Meadow Oaks Academy for many years and held other positions there after that. She was also an Avon Representative for quite a few years. Eldonna was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Rhonda Small, a brother-in-law, Loren Hackbart, a nephew, Jonathon Breithaupt, father-in-law, Marlyn Small and mother-in-law Marjorie Beyer. She is survived by her husband, Brian, of Mesquite, Texas, son Eric and wife Mavreen of Carrollton, Texas, son Adam of Mesquite, brother David Heapy and wife Linda of Litchfield, Nebraska, sister Elaine Hackbart of Hebron, Nebraska, brother-in-law Mark Small of Las Vegas, and sister-in-law Michelle and husband William Breithaupt of Sherman, Texas. She is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at New Hope Funeral Home onFriday July 1, 20l6 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation is Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at the New Hope cemetery.
