Elba Dodd

November 29, 1926 — April 16, 2025

Elba Dean Dodd, born on November 29, 1926, in Emblem, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Dallas, Texas at her home. Her kindness and patience was exemplified in her unwavering love and care for her family that spanned generations. This kindness was mirrored by the way she cared for her plants and the joy she found in creating a welcoming home.

She was a dedicated housewife. After raising her two boys, she went to work at the Baptist Annuity Board where she retired after approximately 10 years to spend more time with her grandkids.

Elba is preceded in death by her parents Corbet and Flossie Chapman, husband R. C. Dodd, brother Charlie Chapman, sister Sue Jackson, brothers-in-law Roy Jackson and Jack Lawson, and sister-in-law Dessie Chapman.

Elba is survived by her two sons, Richard (LouAnn) and Randy Dodd, who were a source of pride and joy in her life. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Kevin (Christina) and Lindsey (Rick), and her heart was further filled with love for her great-grandchildren: Bryce and Mackenzie Dodd, and Hadley and Eliza Sweat. In addition to her immediate family, Elba cared deeply for her multiple nieces and nephews. Elba's special bond with her sister, Shirley Lawson, was a constant source of hope and comfort. Their sisterhood remains a part of Elba's cherished legacy.

The family will honor Elba's memory with a visitation at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel on April 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location on April 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Elba will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will be remembered for her nurturing spirit and unwavering love for her family.
