Edgar Williams

Ed Williams, age 73, of Newton, MS, son of Edgar Clyde Williams, Sr., and Francis Nelson Williams-Hahn, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 20, 2025.

Ed was born on April 25, 1951, in Newton, MS. His dad was a Navy Seabee, allowing them to live in many places. When he was 13, his family settled in Ocean Springs, MS. We praise the Lord for this settlement because this is when he met Sherry. Now, it was not love at first sight for Sherry, but it was for Ed. Thankfully, the Lord changed the errors of her way! They attended Oceans Springs High School, where Ed was an amazing football player (go #74)! After high school, Ed & Sherry were married (1970), and he worked as a mechanic for Guy Eddleman (Sherry's father). In 1973, they moved to Mesquite, Texas, where he attended ATI trade school and became a master welder. He worked as a welder for Solar Turbines for 24 years. He retired in 2016 but continued to teach welding to his grandsons and his "adopted" grandson, Garrett Ward.

Ed loved his Lord, his family, and those that the Lord put in his life. He was an example of a servant. He looked for ways to care for others. He loved spending time with his family, being adventurous (only Mom was the rule follower), and teaching others. He knew a lot about cars, welding, and life. He spent many hours teaching others what he knew so that they could help their families and learn new skills. He would love to talk about the Lord, his past stories, and things he experienced (which mom would regulate-depending on the listener's age). You could also find him watching his westerns (loving John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Audie Murphy, The Rifleman, etc...), Christmas movies, talking football with Tara, watching "O" play softball & volleyball, trying to garden, fishing, and hunting (his favorite hobbies). Anytime you see Ed, he smiles, hugs you, and makes you feel like you are the most important person in the room. He had a great sense of humor and didn't mind sharing it with anyone he encountered. No one was a stranger to Ed.

He was a beloved husband of Sherry Eddleman Williams for 54 years. Devoted dad of Tara Conroy and Kristen Bottoms. A father-in-love to David Conroy and Chris Bottoms (Junior). Loving Pop to Brandon Conroy, Jesse and Linnsay Bottoms, Aaron Bottoms, Joshua Bottoms, and Caleb Bottoms. He was also Pop to his nephews Matthew Waits, Jake Waits, Anthony Williams, Alec Williams, and nieces Michelle Conley and Papa to Olivia "O" Drieling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Clyde Williams, Sr, Francis Nelson Williams-Hahn, his stepdad Jesse Hahn, and his sister Rita Dyer. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Williams, his daughters & son-in-loves, his grandchildren, George & Ruby Drieling (sister & brother-in-love), David & Michelle Williams (brother & sister-in-love), Susan Croonquist (sister-in-love) and several nephews and nieces.
