Douglas L. Risher, Jr. was born June 6, 1937 and passed away on April 5, 2016.He is preceded in death by his parents; Douglas L. Risher, Sr. and Ruth Risher and his brother, Donald R. Risher Douglas is survived by his sons James D. Risher , and wife Carol and Richard C. Risher and wife Cindy.Also survived by grandchildren; Christopher and Candy Risher,Ryan and Nina Flippo, ShannonRisher, Crystal and Brandon Weir, Jessica and Brandon Sprague, Colt Risher and great grandchildren; Sydney Madison and Peyton Risher, Madison and Cailyn Weir. He grew up in Walterboro, S.C. and graduated from Walterboro High School on May 26, 1955.He began his U.S. Air Force career with the 3960th CAM Squadron in October 1955.During his tenure he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeantbefore being honorably discharged in October 1959. During his service to the USAF he married and started a family and began private sector career in Dallas, Texas.Doug was recruited by Braniff Airlines in October 1959 where he spent 25 years working on the interior and paint design for aircraft.After Braniff he continued his career at Associated Air specializing in interior modifications for private jets.One project was to modify the interior of a 747 which included a pool table on gyros for the president of Brazil.He also served as head of the School Board of Sunnyvale School district for 6 - 8 years.After retirement Doug took a 5 month trip to Alaska. Doug spent much of his downtime outdoors with his sons and friends.Doug loved to hunt, camp, and fish.He would often share stories about his big game hunts and unlike most outdoorsmen he had the trophies to back up his claims. Doug would say if asked that the most important things in his life were God, Family and Country.
