Douglas Ray Cannon

CANNON, Douglas Ray of Mesquite. Doug was born on June 14, 1945 in Mineola, TX. to Robert Lee Cannon and Alma Lois Galliton.He passed on to eternal life on November 16, 2006, surrounded by his family who though heartbroken, are so thankful to have known and loved him. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter.He was a star player for the Mineola High School football team, and never lost his love of the sport. Doug is survived by his wife, Lois; mother, Lois Curl; son, Wendell (Susan) Cannon; daughter, Tammie (Gary) Green; son, Brandon (Stacey) Cannon; stepsons, Randy (Wendy) Edwards, Tony Edwards and Jordan (Chrissy) Edwards; three sisters, six grandchildren and one great grandchild, plus numerous other family and friends. Doug retired from Lucent Technologies after 27 years and was employed at Baylor Health Care Systems the last five years of his life. He was preceded in death by his father and beloved daughter, Christy. Doug was a member of Masonic Lodge 928 and Mesquite Elks Lodge # 2404, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1991 and as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler in 1995. We love him and always will, but console ourselves in the sure and certain knowledge that the circle will be unbroken, bye and bye. Service will be 10:00AM Sunday November 19, 2006 at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00PM - 8:00PM.
