Dorothy Belle Daugherty 9/5/28-7/10/14 Dorothy Belle Daugherty (Dottie) was born Sept. 5, 1928 in Weston W.V. to Elva Gertrude and Samuel F Daugherty She attended Doddridge County High School in West Union, WV. and graduatedin May 1946.Her senior year she met and dated Byron (Bud) Wells, her husband to be. They attended Salem College where Dottie was a member of the Glee Club, A cheerleader and took Piano and Voice lessons. Music was her passion. In College she sang with a group called "The Streamliners" of which Carlton Boyce was a member. She married Byron (Bud) Wells 3/10/47 at the First Christian Church in West Union and on November 24, 1948 they had their first daughter Connie Ellen Wells.Three and a half years later they had their second daughter, Jennifer Sue Wells born May 31, 1952 in Parkersburg, WV. In 1958 Bud's job transferred him to Trenton NJ where they resided until 1961.Dottie worked part time for Bell Telephone Company. Bud and family finally made it to Texas in 1961. In 1963 Dottie took a job as the church secretary at the First United Methodist Church in Mesquite where they worshipped for many years.She served under three pastors; Earl Harvey, Clayton Lewis and Buist Wilson. On March 19, 1965 she gave birth to their only son, Byron Scott Wells and the family was complete! Mom attended Eastfield Community College for 2 years and took a job with North Mesquite High School as the registrar's secretary for 10 years retiring in June 1989. Her church home is Eastridge Park Christian Church where she sang in the choir.She and Bud traveled to the Holy Land with Dan Carroll where Dottie sang at the Sea of Galilee. She was a member of the Joy class, Christian Women's Fellowship and Double Nickel Club and volunteered at church in many areas. Shocked at the diagnoses of a malignant brain tumor on March 4, Dottie fought the battle bravely and with a wonderful positive attitude displaying Christ's love through her words and actions.She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was welcomed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on the evening of July 10th with Scott and Jennifer at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Byron E. (Bud) Wells, her parents, Elva Gertrude and Samuel F. Daugherty, her siblings, James Richard Daugherty, Regina Booth, Bonnie Hansen and Helen Miller; her oldest daughter, Connie Ellen Price, her children; Tony Florida, Deanna Florida; and her grandson, Joshua Foster. She is survived by her children, Scott and Brandy Wells, Jennifer and Lary Snodgrass; her grandchildren: Austin and Katryn Wells,Dallas and Lindsay Snodgrass, Chris and Carrie Snodgrass and Erik and Jennifer Snodgrass. Her great grandchildren; Cole, Chandler, Callie, Sadie, Paisley and Ruby Snodgrass, and her nephews ; Arthur Lee and Judy Lynch, Jim and Mary Robbins, Randy and Jean Robbins and her nieces Cindy and Tom Dawson and Vicki Lynn and Mike Felton.
