Dorothy Jeanne Jordan (Jones) passed away peacefully on August 17, 2022 at the age of 92 surrounded by her family. Born on August 3, 1930, in Sikeston, Missouri, her parents, Reverend Louis B. Jones and Mrs. Elsie Cier Jones, along with her brother Burt Jones, moved to Louisiana, where Dorothy spent most of her young life. It was there she met her husband James Jordan at Louisiana College, where she was a voice and music major and he was a bible major - both graduating with their Bachelor of Arts degrees. Before long, they were serving together in churches, first in Louisiana, then in Texas. In each place, Dorothy would assist in the services by playing the organ or piano, directing special music for the choir, and singing solos with her beautiful voice.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Rev. James O. Jordan (Jim), her son, Dr. Michael Jordan, daughter Jeannie Smokoska and son-in-law Steve, her grandson Daniel Smokoska and wife Jessica and great grandsons Preston and Levi.
She is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Louis B. Jones, mother, Elsie Cier Jones, brother, Louis Burton (Burt) Jones, Jr. and infant son, James Mark Jordan.
In addition to her other achievements, she will be remembered for her love of opera, her days singing with the Dallas Symphony Chorus, making and sharing the best made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls, and most importantly her incredible love for her family.
