Dorothy Myers Bryant Forney, Texas – On June 17, 2016, Dorothy Myers Bryant departed this Earth to be with her Heavenly Father. A Louisiana native, she was born in Chestnut, on February 16, 1930, to Vernon and Estelle Gunter Myers.Dot lived in Winnfield the majority of her life.She also lived in Youngsville and Goldonna before moving to Forney, Texas in 2012, where she resided at Ridgecrest Healthcare Center until her passing. Dot’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 pm. The service, officiated by Rev. John Holland, will begin at 2:00pm.Interment will take place at the Goldonna Cemetery. New Hope Funeral Home, Sunnyvale, Texas and Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield are providing funeral services. Dot was preceded in death by Clovis C. Bryant, her loving husband of 55 years, her parents and her sister, Audie Myers Thomas. She leaves the following family to honor her memory: daughters Patricia B. Ashcroft of Forney, Texas, Teresa Saucier and husband, Steve, of Youngsville, Louisiana and niece Gwen Noel of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Six grandchildren:Richard “Trey” Ashcroft and wife Tonya, and Jason Ashcroft, all of Forney. Shana Zanyk and husband, Graydon, and Ben Swilley II and wife, Heather, all of Lafayette.Stacy Beardslee and husband, Bill, of Denver, North Carolina and Cullen Saucier and wife, Pam, of Baton Rouge. She leaves a legacy of 19 great grandchildren.Also, Dot leaves her sisters: Shirley Myers Bordelon, Natchitoches, and Verna Myers Bedgood and husband, Rod, and brother, Tommy Myers and wife, Lolita, all of Goldonna, and a host of nieces and nephews. Dot was a wonderful mother to her daughters and, for 7 years, her special niece, Gwen Noel. She was a talented homemaker, artist, cook, baker, and a gifted seamstress. Her beautifully decorated cakes were a treat for her family and friends and she fried the best fish in the world. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and making jellies and preserves.Dot was an avid golf and football fan and loved bowling and playing softball for many years. Despite the devastating effects of her illness in 2008, her positive attitude and sweet demeanor was an inspiration to all, and her beautiful smile could light up a room.Dot will be dearly missed by her family, but they take comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace and resting in our Lord’s loving arms.
