Donnie Mack Cotton was born in Mineral Wells, Texas on September 15, 1946, to Mason and Peggy Cotton. After graduating from Paschal High School in 1965, he married Sandra Darrow on May 6, 1966. They were married for 56 years. Mack passed to Glory on September 18, 2020 in Sunnyvale, Texas.
Mack is survived by his wife Sandra, son, Scott Cotton and friend Kristi, his children Ryan, Todd, and Megan Cotton and great-granddaughter Ellah, daughter-in-law Diana Cotton; daughter, Kay Lynn Cotton Ellis, her husband Herbert and children Kayla and Braylon, his mother Peggy Cotton, and his sisters Debbie Cotton and Jana Cotton Cooney. Mack was preceded in death by his father Mason Cotton, and brother Roger Cotton.
Because of his personal faith in Jesus Christ, Mack was passionate about studying the Bible. His enthusiasm was evident when he served as Sunday School teacher and leader. He was also an ordained Deacon at both First Baptist Church Mesquite, and First Baptist Church Sunnyvale.
In addition, Mack enjoyed sports. He was an avid golfer and more recently watched tournaments on TV. On Saturdays, SEC football was generally seen and heard in the Cotton household. Mack also refereed high school football.
He served three years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. On February 14, 1972 he was discharged.
Celebration of Life will be at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Services start at eleven o’clock, and preceded by private viewing at nine thirty; visitors viewing at ten o’clock.
