Donald Alfred Hirschfeld, 74, was invited home on April 2, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Alfred and Winifred Hirschfeld. Growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, along with older brother and sister, Bob and Sue, he attended Jefferson High School, before being drafted into the United States Air Force, which took him to Webb Air Force Base in Texas. After serving his country for four years, his family returned to Cedar Rapids. There, he began working at LeFebure Manufacturing, where he was quickly promoted to foreman, the youngest and fastest in the company’s history. The family later returned to Texas, where he joined The Reliable Life Insurance Company. During his time at Reliable, starting as an agent and working his way to Regional Vice President, he and his teams consistently broke sales records, including breaking his own several times, before retiring after a twenty-eight-year epic career. He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Debra Hirschfeld, her four children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, as well as his son, Brenten, daughter-in-law, Stephanye, and grandson, Pierce, along with numerous other friends and family. He is remembered for his unwavering love for God and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a man of high character, determination, strong will, honor, and someone who always strived to do what is right, even when uncomfortable. He will be greatly missed.
