DEWEY LEE MIDDLETON, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on the afternoon of August 9, 2024, in Terrell, Texas. He was born on January 15, 1944 in Beebe, Arkansas, to Harley Middleton and Naomi Fulks.

Dewey attended Florence Black Elementary, Agnew Middle School, and Mesquite High School in 1960-1961, where he was a running back on the football team and also played baseball as an outfielder. He thought it best at the time to quit school and enlist in the U.S. Navy where he acquired his GED. He started his military career as an Aerospace and Submarine mechanic for the U.S. Navy, serving 2 years of service to our country from 1961-1963. He then went on to be a car mechanic, a certified Heat/AC professional, and was a truck driver for over 40 years.

Dewey married Carol (Zelman) Middleton on July 1, 1972 in Garland, Texas, at his sister, Janice's home. The couple had 3 children, Lori Middleton-Wynne of Terrell, Texas, Candace Marie Middleton (deceased), and Charles Middleton, of Richmond, Texas.

Dewey is described by his daughter as a loving, generous, extremely funny father and terrific grandfather. Among many things, He was best known for catching the "Big Kahuna" when fishing, trying to beat everyone on the golf course (which most time he did and would brag about it), loving to play dominoes, play Uno, and play anything else that was competitive.

Dewey was known as "Dood" to his brothers, sisters, and "Uncle Dood" to his nieces and nephews. He loved to tinker out in his shop and to fix things. If it didn't work, it did when he was done with it. He loved to watch old western shows and John Wayne movies. He also loved to pester his siblings, children, his nieces and nephews, and grandsons. Those who knew Dewey best, knew him as being quite a jokester with a contagious and loud belly laugh. And if you weren't laughing at him, you were laughing with him!

Dewey is survived by his daughter, Lori Middleton-Wynne and husband Tony of Terrell, TX; grandson, Brandon Higginbotham and wife Kayla of Princeton, TX; great-grandson, Bruxtyn Leelan Higginbotham; grandson, Christian Higginbotham of Terrell, TX.
