Dennis Ray McKinney

November 14, 1952 — December 20, 2013

Dennis Ray McKinney entered this life as the third son of Emory and Neoma McKinney on November 14, 1952. He grew up in an Ideal setting in the state of Missouri with his three brothers and one sister. Dennis worked and traveled around the eastern states before following a brother to Texas and settling in Garland. He worked as a welder and pipe-fitter for most of his life until retiring last year. His work and his workers say, “None better than I've ever seen--- not a harder worker and not a better man!!" Dennis loved to fish, gamble, and his cat. He was loved by his friends who will now have the job of filling a huge hole he has left behind. Dennis departed from this life on December 20, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Emory & Neoma McKinney; brothers, Robert Allen McKinney, Lawrence Joseph McKinney; sister, Laura Katherine Heil. Survived by children, Christy Looney & Leslie McKinney; brother, Bruce Wayne McKinney & wife, Linda; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Ginger Allen, Sandra Rich and family, Chuck and Diana Rhodes and family; many more friends too numerous to mention and his loving cat, Bevo. Dennis was a happy man that loved life. His illness was unexpected but thankfully his suffering was short. Service will be 12:00 Noon Monday December 23, 2013 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, TX. 75182. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday morning from 11:00AM - 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
