KERN, DELMA ALLIE LAMBERT (DeDee) born in Carson, Louisiana on April 26, 1918 to Allie and William Riggins Brown. Preceded in death by husbands, L. L. Lambert, (Dec. 1976) and Hans Kern, (March 2000) Also sisters Lucille Kidd and Gertrude Weeks and brothers, Sam, Bob, Tom, Bill and George Elton (Sonny) Brown of Louisiana and great grandson Hayden Michael Luchini of Garland, TX. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law June and Cliff Melton, Wills Point, TX. and Brenda and Jim Harris of Mesquite, TX.Also Michael and Diane Kern of the Woodlands, TX, Susan and Luther Anderson, Garland, TX. and Max and Gloria Kern of Denver, Colorado. Grandchildren and spouses, Mark and Kim Melton, Wills Point, TX, Shannan and Russell Parker, Wills Point, TX, Tracy and Andy Luchini, Mesquite, TX, Kelli Price, Mesquite, TX, Craig Harris, Wills Point, TX. and his fianc Myra, David and Tisha Anderson, Albuquerque, NM, James and Kim Anderson and Katherine and Nicole Kern of Denver, CO, and 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.Nieces Aliene Reich, Paula Ashcraft, Sally Marcantel, Nephews Allan, Max and Joe Brown, sisters-in-law, Mary and Minnie Brown and many great nieces and nephews and her beloved poodle, Angel. Her daughters, June and Brenda, wish to extend a special thanks to Michael and Diane Kern for their care and devotion to Mom.Their regular phone calls, visits, cards and support during her long illness were a comfort to her and her immediate family.They never failed to keep in contact and she and her daughters were touched by their devotion despite their very busy lives and living so far away. They also wish to extend a special thanks to her beloved physician Dr. Michael Highbaugh for his loving care not only for DeeDee but for his care and concern for the whole family.A very special thank-you to Vitas Hospice for their wonderfully supportive care for the last three years.They have become a vital part of our family.Thanks especially to Gail Boman and Keli Griswald.Also Frances, Shannon, Sandy, Claudine, and Chaplain Joel.Your presence made what would have been an ordeal a rewarding experience for us. DeeDee retired from the Social Security Administration after 5 years where she managed files for several states.She received he Commissioners Citation Award in addition to many local awards from the government during her career. She loved gardening, painting, cooking, reading and genealogy.She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories.She also loved to talk.Someone told her one time that she talked so much that if you tied a weight on her tongue, she would beat her brains out.At age 16, she was crowned Miss Riverton, LA.She also appeared in several ad promotions.She was a member of the Caldwell Parish Garden Club and an officer in the Eastern Star.She was an honorary volunteer at the Columbia Heights Nursing Center when her Mom was there for five years.She had a beautiful smile, one that will never be forgotten and one that will always be missed.Her favorite pastime was taking care of her family.She was always there to take care of someone.She always put them ahead of herself.She always saw the good in everyone and her motto was ?the Golden Rule?.This was also the code that she lived by.Her favorite saying was "If you can't say anything good about someone, don't say anything at all." Service will be 2:00PM Thursday November 29, 2007 at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, TX. 75182. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00PM ? 8:00PM. Interment will be in Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
