Deanna Kay Embrey Wood Cheyne, 61, passed away on April 23, 2023, at her home in Royse City, TX.
Deanna Kay Embrey Wood Cheyne was born on February 8, 1962 in Lawton, OK, to James Raymond (JR) Embrey and Marcia Lyell Embrey Matus.
Deanna graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1980. She started her career as an insurance underwriting assistant and went on to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader from 1983-1986. She has since worked for Walmart as a Team Lead for the past 8 years.
Deanna married Mark Cheyne on July 3, 2010 in Forney, TX. Deanna has 3 children, Julee Childers, Kara Williams, and Shauna Williams.
Deanna's family best describes her as loving because she loved hard and loved everyone unconditionally. She had the most infectious laugh that filled the room and her smile could brighten anyone's day. She loved her family, kids, and grandkids more than anything. Her beauty radiated and she was always the most beautiful person in the room, inside and out. Deanna was maternal because she was always willing to help her children and grandkids any chance she could without question or fault.
When Deanna was not working, she was enjoying riding in her Mustang convertible with the top down and spent a lot of time at the beach. The beach was her happy place. Deanna enjoyed watching Yellowstone and Grey's Anatomy. Deanna spent most of her free time with her grand babies playing and enjoying spending time with them.
Deanna was a Christian who trusted in the Lord with all of her heart. Deanna was baptized in high school at Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas.
Being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader from 1983-1986 was a monumental event in Deanna's life. Everyone in Sunnyvale, TX was so proud of their cheerleader. The opportunities that she could be a part of were endless and she was able to travel the world and dance, which she absolutely loved.
Becoming a mom was one of her greatest accomplishments. She was a loving mother to her three daughters, Julee, Kara, and Shauna.
Lastly, becoming a Nana was one of her proudest milestones. Seeing her three daughters become moms was something she was so incredibly proud of. She loved her grand babies with all her heart.
Deanna is survived by Mark Cheyne - husband, Julee Childers - daughter, Ethan Bohanan - grandson, Lucas Menchaca - grandson, Makennah Kay - granddaughter, Kara Williams - daughter, Alex Williams - son-in-law, Camden Williams - grandson, Chaney Williams - granddaughter, Shauna Williams - daughter, Chance Williams - son-in-law, Hayden Williams - grandson, Marcia Embrey Matus - mother, Tom Hopkins, step-father, James Michael Embrey - brother, Kerri Embrey - sister-in-law, Joshua Embrey - nephew and Kirsten Reiter - niece and husband Jake Reiter, Cullen Reiter, great-nephew, Cynthia Andrews - sister, Jason Andrews - brother-in-law, Austin Andrews - nephew, and Madison Andrews - niece. Deanna is also survived by a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Deanna is preceded in death by James Raymond (JR) Embrey - father and Albin John Matus Jr.- stepfather.
The service for Deanna Kay Embrey Wood Cheyne will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 AM at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Mesquite, TX.
Visitation: Friday, at 6:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX.
Final Resting Place: Long Creek Cemetery in Sunnyvale, TX next to her daddy.
