David Andrew Whitaker

David Andrew Whitaker 1985-2017 David left us unexpectedly on June 6, 2017 at age 31, when he was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Alexis; devoted parents Rev. Clay and Heather Whitaker; dear brothers Jonathan (Leslie), Joseph (Sarah) and Jeremy. Adored grandson of Naomi Whitaker and Gerald and Christine Mims. David was a proud uncle to Katelyn and Luke Whitaker. Cherished son-in-law of Bruce and Melody Ridge and dear brother-in-law of Andrew Ridge. Preceded in death by grandfather Joseph Clayton Whitaker, Sr. David will be deeply missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a host of loyal friends, including Elaine Howard, who introduced David to his future wife. David was full of life and filled with love. He was born on August 26, 1985 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the second of four sons. He attended Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, where he had planned to return this fall to complete his bachelor's degree. David married the love of his life, Alexis Ridge, on October 21, 2016, and enjoyed a brief but beautiful marriage. He was a devoted husband who made every day an adventure. David's life goal was to serve The Lord in ministry in gratitude for the remarkable transformation Christ had made in his life. David's impact will be felt forever by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. A celebration of David's life will be held with a visitation June 9 from 6-8pm at New Hope Funeral Home (500 Us Highway 80 E, Sunnyvale, TX 75182) and funeral services at Casa View Assembly of God (9949 Ferguson Rd., Dallas, TX 75228) June 10th at 11am.
