David Wayne Valencia

David Wayne Valencia was born on May 10, 1957 and passed away on June 18, 2017. David is preceded in death by his parents: Jesse and Elisa Valencia; and brother, Gil Valencia. David is survived by his wife, Tillie Valencia; brother: Art Valencia and wife Rosemary; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Libby Martinez; brother-in-laws: Ralph and Tom Martinez; sister-in-law, Angela Crawford and husband Bill and numerous nieces and nephews. David graduated from Mesquite High School and then enrolled in the Police Academy and joined the Mesquite Police Department,while working on the police force he worked his way through the University of Texas at Dallas where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree. David was the first Hispanic to be promoted to Sergeant then Lieutenant and eventually obtaining the position as Captain. David retired from Mesquite Police Department in 2012 and joined the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department retiring in 2017.David was a proud member and devoted usher at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church and an avid golfer. David was extremely devoted to being a loving husband and best friend to his wife Tillie.David will be dearly missed by all who had a chance to know him. A Visitation will be held for David on Wednesday June 21, 2017 from 5:00PM-8:00PM with Rosary beginning at 6:30 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 10:00AM June 22, 2017 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Mesquite, Texas.
