David Nelson Baxter was born on May 7, 1939 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to his parents David P. and Ileene Derryberry Baxter.He began his celebration Saturday, March 5, 2016, when he peacefully took his last breath on this earth and was welcomed into heaven to enter the presence of his Lord and Savior. David was a devoted and loving husband, and he treasured his family and friends.He truly was a kind-hearted and generous person, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.David touched so many people’s lives and always put others first.He had a special way of inspiring and encouraging all those around him. David was a member and served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Kleberg.He enjoyed serving the Lord with his whole heart.He especially loved to call members who were unable to attend to let them know they were missed. David liked to collect John Deere memorabilia, but his passion was directed toward aviation, primarily airplanes and flying. David will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.We will not say goodbye because one day, in God’s perfect timing, we will see his beautiful smile again. David was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dennis Baxter and Darrell Baxter. The loved ones left behind include his wife of 33 years, Connie Baxter; children, Daleene Ercanbrack, Danielle Colvin, Renda Cruz, Deondra Minyard; grandchildren, Jennifer Bryant, Desirae Ercanbrack, Benjamin Colvin, Gabrielle Colvin, Jacy Colvin, Shanda Walker, Marisa Cruz, Rachael Cruz, Brent Lawson, Robert Lawson, Kaleb Lawson; great-grandchildren, LaKera Pinkney, LaNya Pickney, LaFonzo Pickney, Taylen Elliott, Greyson Herndon, Ezra Dennis, Laney Rae Dennis, Hayden Love, and one on the way; beloved pet, Layla; and numerous other family and friends.
