Born and raised in Dallas, TX, the most amazing state on the map, he played football and graduated from N. Dallas High School. After graduating he went on to attend Eastfield College and Southern Methodist University. Curtis worked in mechanical control systems after college. He met and fell in love with Ranada in 1974 and they married in 1978. Their family grew in 1979 when they welcomed a son and again in 1982, a daughter. Over the years he worked with companies locally and in Puerto Rico, Washington D.C., Rio and Dusseldorf, Germany. He was also a little league coach for baseball, soccer and girl's basketball until he was ejected from the league for arguing with the refs. Always an advocate for the kids. Curtis has been active in Life Community Church of Sunnyvale since 1992, spending countless hours, days and nights at youth group activities, events and discipleship weekends. He was devoted to LCC and stayed involved as a member in home groups, hosted small groups in his home and gave his time and love to his church family. If you knew Curtis, you instantly loved him. He was probably the most optimistic and full of life person most people had ever met. And his passion for life and love was infectious. Curtis loved to travel. His most favorite places were near the water. If he had a pool, the ocean or a lake and a cold beer all was good in his world. His traveling adventures took him to all 50 states, England, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, Panama and multiple caribbean islands. But his favorite locale of all was Cabo San Lucas. He was a known Caboholic. Where there was sand and water, he was home. Curtis was an outstanding cook and loved to have pool parties and cook outs. Any excuse for a get together was a good one in his book. His warm smile, big hugs and kind words were what made him such an extraordinary man. He was an outstanding father and father-in-love to his children and their families. His grandchildren adored him and pined for his attention because he was a hero in their eyes. Always a Christ loving man, Curtis, gave his family and friends the joy of purely being in his presence. And he leaves a legacy of undeniable love for those of us who await our reunion with him one day in the true paradise. Relatives, friends and loved ones will be welcomed for a memorial service and celebration of his life on Saturday, December, 8, 2012 at 1pm at Life Community Church in Sunnyvale, TX. Randy Huett will officiate, along with Rachel Scott interpreting for the deaf. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Life Community Church for the Children's Playground Fund in memory of Curtis Staggs.
