Jane was born April 23, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas, the eldest child of J.D. and Zella Taylor.She died January 28, 2017.Her family lived in several places during her childhood as they followed her father’s base assignments as a career officer in the U. S. Air Force.In addition to two times in San Antonio, they lived in Frankfort, Germany, Minden, Louisiana, Vallejo, California, Henderson, Texas, and Edwards, California. After her father’s retirement in 1956, the family moved to a farm in Rusk County, Texas, near Henderson and Jane enrolled in Henderson High School partway into the 10th grade, from which she graduated in 1959. During the Christmas Holidays in 1957, a relative introduced her to Steve Jones, who was attending The University of Texas at the time.They fell in love and maintained a long distance relationship until she graduated high school and he returned from his active duty Army service in February of 1960. After graduation, Jane moved to Dallas and attended a business college to hone her secretarial skills, then was hired as secretary to a department manager at United States Fidelity and Guaranty Insurance Company.When Steve returned from active duty, he found a job as a staff accountant at Hunt Oil Company, and as a beautiful gift from God, found that he was one floor above Jane in the Mercantile Bank Building.They began to plan for their wedding on April 30, 1960. Sharon Diane was born September 7, 1961.Carla Sue joined the family on May 19, 1963.That same year, they bought a house in Mesquite, where they lived for seventeen years.When the daughters were older, Jane, having missed out on the college experience, enrolled in Eastfield College in order to broaden her formal education.Afterwards, she was recruited for a position as secretary to the safety director of Highlands Insurance Company and worked there until 1977.Her working career came to an end with the arrival of Alan Wesley on June 24, 1977. Jane was involved in service to the Lord almost from her teens on.She served as church pianist for the Presbyterian church in their community until she graduated from high school and moved away.After her marriage, she joined the Baptist church and soon became the pianist there.She served at various times as Second Grade Sunday School teacher, Girls’ Auxiliary leader, VBS worker and was the church secretary for several years.Jane and Steve determined early in their marriage that they would establish a Christian home and marriage, and they worked hard over the 56+ years to make it a reality. Those left to cherish her memory are, Steve Jones, her husband of 56+ years, daughter, Sharon Brown (Jeff), daughter, Carla Cimino (Mike), and son, Alan Jones (Lauren).She is also survived by her brother, James Taylor, sister, Patricia Floyd (Jerry), sister, Cindy Cheney, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends who almost feel like family.
