Clinton “Ray” Ostrem, age 75 of Mesquite, Texas passed October 23, 2017 from complications secondary to A.L.S. at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TXsurrounded by family.Ray was born October 16, 1942 in Wakonda, South Dakota.From a very early age Ray developed a fondness of the outdoors, he continued to spend as much time as possible in the environments he so dearly loved.Whether, hunting, fishing or traveling, Ray lived for the next big adventure.He and his wife Barbara enjoyed retirement life on the road in their motorhome. They traveled to all fifty US states and were never without their furry traveling companions; even adopting a little furry fella at a Port Aransas convenience store who would become his best buddy. Skeeter, a mix of hair and happiness, joined the Chihuahua pack during a visit to the Texas coast, which was a favorite destination. Ray could spend hours with his second love, the rod and reel, patiently waiting for his next offering from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, a true “salt life” was lived by Ray and Barbara for months out of the year. Ray enjoyed many special adventures with those he loved. He truly enjoyed his hunting trips with his son Rick and his brother Richard. There are many memories, many stories, and many fisherman’s tales that could be shared, some may or may not have happened exactly as told. Everyone who knew Ray has a special memory to be recalled with fondness, he was a friend to many.He is preceded in death by; parents, Lois and Duane Ostrem, brother, Richard Ostrem, daughter, Vicki Duffin, and first wife, Twyla Davis Ostrem.Ray is survived by his current wife of nearly 17 years, Barbara Ostrem, children; Rick Gorsett, Linda Smith, Tracy Davis, Kelly Khan, Robin Higgins, Heather Ostrem, April Sims, Ronda Huckeba and Tonya Carter, brothers, Norman Ostrem and Gary Ostrem.Ray had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He will be dearly missed.
