On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Cindy Elizabeth Pittman Pipes -aka- "Gammy", finished the fight and won the race. For 83 years, she kept the faith and God has called her home.Ms. Pipes was born on December 18, 1941 into the union of the late Columbus Pittman and the late Lorine Jackson Forehand. She was the third oldest of 13 children. After graduating from Matthew Gilbert High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Ms. Pipes met and married the late Eldon Jesse Pipes, Sr. and four children were born into their union: Carla June Pipes (deceased), Carol Pipes-Nedd (Ronald), Eldon Jesse Pipes, Jr and Eric James Pipes (Carrie).
Shortly after marriage, she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and began walking along the path of faith. Ms. Pipestook every opportunity to share her salvation experience with those she met wherever she would go. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice (akin to that of Mahalia Jackson) and used her God-given talent to sing praises to the Lord.
She raised her 4 children under the Word of God and during their teen years she formed a singing group called "The Pipes Family Gospel Singers" where she and her children traveled around Hammond, Louisiana and nearby parishes worshipping the Lord.
Later in life, after moving to Dallas, Ms. Pipes joined the Potter's House Choir where she continued to sing in worship to God.
Throughout her life she loved listening to Mahalia Jackson and a few of her favorite songs were: "How I Got Over", "His Eye Is On the Sparrow", "Take My Hand Precious Lord", "I Found the Answer" and "It Is No Secret What God Can Do".
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and wife, Ms. Pipes loved to cook and bake. She would joyfully prepare delicious meals and special desserts using creative recipes. Ms. Pipes entered several cake decorating and cooking contests, even resulting in winning 1st place!
As evidence of her servant's heart, Ms. Pipes enrolled in classes at Hammond Area Vocational School in Hammond, Louisiana where she became a certified nursing assistant. She used her skills to show care and restore health to those in need until she retired.
Ms. Pipes leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Carol Pipes-Nedd (of Forney, Tx) sons; Eldon Jesse Pipes Jr, (of Frisco,Tx) and Eric James Pipes (of Lakeland, Fl). granddaughters: Crystal Janelle Matthews, Mi'ya Nichole Nedd, and Candice Olivia Nedd; grandson, Robby Nedd; great granddaughters, Carli Janae Matthews and Isla'Rae Nedd. She also leaves to cherish brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and many other family members and close friends.
We rejoice in the promise of eternal life and find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
