Charles Louis Hampton passed away on May 26 at his home in Hokes Bluff, Alabama. . Mr. Hampton was born on May 15, 1930 in Dallas, Texas. He married Bennie Jo Kerr in 1950, with whom he had three children, Susan, Cheryl and Charles Benjamin, and was a devoted husband until her death in 1993. Charles was a mechanic, welder, machinist and electrician who could build virtually anything. He worked for 32 years for the Procter and Gamble company before retiring in 1992. Daughter Cheryl Ann Bowling is a resident of Etowah County, Alabama. She introduced Charles to Nola Miller Sanford in the summer of 1994 and it quickly became a fairy tale romance. After courting for seven years, Nola became Mrs. Charles Hampton in March of 2001. The newlyweds had children and grandchildren in both Texas and Alabama, so they built houses in both states and spent half their time at each home. Charles will be forever remembered as a selfless man who devoted himself to others. His main focus in life was his family to whom he was completely devoted and was an exceptional husband and father. Those who knew him describe him as a Christ-like man with a servant’s heart. He is survived by his wife Nola Miller Hampton, his children Susan Pierce and husband Bob, Cheryl Bowling and husband John, Chuck Hampton & Amelia Noriega, Kim Hayes and husband Jason, Price Sanford, daughter in love Olivia Mathis and husband Mike, daughter in love Theresa Smith, his grandchildren Cody Pierce and wife RaeAnn, Andy Pierce and wife Ann, Trey Pierce and wife Holly, Della Barber and husband Patrick, Wil Bowling, Christina Glastad and husband Karl, Hunter Hampton, Diego Noriego, Miranda Noriego, Sabrina Noriego, Collin Masters and wife Maggie, Conner Masters, Jessi Sanford, Brett Hayes, Tracie Olson and husband Brian, his great grandchildren Sullivan, Adalyn, Kenzie, Nolan, Amelia, Alexandra, Dylan, Sunny, Brooke, Emilie, Hadley and Hayden. The funeral service will be Friday, June 1 at 1pm at Meadow View Church of Christ Located at 4100 North Galloway in Mesquite, Texas. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
