Charlene "Charlie" Montgomery went home to be with The Lord on March 10, 2025 at the age of 76. She was born on March 21, 1948 in the town of Grand Prairie, TX. She played basketball and graduated high school in Boyd,TX and went on to pursue a career as a salesperson with an electronics firm in Dallas, TX. When she wasn't traveling for work Charlie focused on her large extended family. They meant everything to her and she was devoted to them. She loved going to family reunions and was considered a "second mom" to a lot of her nieces and nephews. If there was a sporting event that they were participating in, Charlie was there to cheer them on. She even took a trip to Italy to visit a niece who was serving in the military.
Charlie married Don Montgomery on March 24, 2012. During their 13 years together, they enjoyed going to estate sales and attending football games, such as, The Dallas Cowboys (of which Charlie was a huge fan) or SMU, just to name a few. They particularly loved to travel. If they weren't visiting family and friends in Utah or Colorado, they would take an ocean cruise or even a cruise on the great Mississippi River. They would host huge family gatherings at their home out in the country in Fairfield, TX. Charlie loved to take daily walks out on their wooded property. She enjoyed seeing the wildlife and the Texas wildflowers that grew in abundance. She was fond of the dogs and cats that lived with them. Her favorite dog was Missy, who had been with Charlie for over 15 years.
Charlie was a long time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for a number of years. If the church was having a special occasion, she could be counted on to bring her infamous white chocolate cheesecake. Every Sunday when Charlie entered the church, the parishioners were greeted by an impeccably dressed woman with a grand sense of style and classic beauty. Her generous spirit, sense of humor and infectious laugh will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Charlie is survived by her husband Don Montgomery, son Monty Montgomery, grandsons Brandon Montgomery, Caleb Montgomery, and Ethan Montgomery Her brothers Charles Pinson and Gary Pinson and her sister Paula Anderson. She is remembered and loved by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Charlie is preceded in death by her mother and father Charles "CJ" Pinson and Evelyn Pinson. Brother David Pinson and sisters Judith Parker and Carolyn Adams.
