She was the third of four children of the late Gloria Ragsdale Wimpey and Arlon Wimpey, Sr. Carmen attended both Texas Tech University and Texas Womens University where she obtained her degree in Osha Safety. Carmen joined the United States Navy in 1977 until 1979. For health reasons, she had to retire but was very proud of her military accomplishments while stationed in Portugal. After the Navy, she lived in San Diego, CA and worked for the US Navy as a civilian for many years. During that time, she was presented with several awards in the writing and implementation of her safety protocol for the Navy. A safety protocol that is still used to this day. After San Diego, she returned to be close to her Texas family and took residence in Denton, TX where she obtained her Bachelors of Science from TWU in Osha Safety. Carmen has lived in Mesquite, Dallas, Denton, Garland and Mineola Texas throughout her life, along with Portugal during the Navy, San Diego, CA post-Navy and finally to her resting place in Crandall, Texas. She is survived by her sister Karen Wimpey Downey and brother in-law, Billy Downey along with their children and grandchildren; and brother, Arlon “Butch” Wimpey, Jr., along with his children and grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her father Arlon Wimpey Sr., Gloria Ragsdale Wimpey and younger brother Joe Wimpey.
