Carl Nathen York

November 21, 1948 — August 1, 2009

Carl Nathen York, 60 of Longview, Tx. Went home to be with the lord on Aug. 1st, 2009. Carl passed due to injuries sustained in April of 2008 while being A Good Samaritan. Carl was looking forward to being a great grandfather for the first time. He lived a very avid life, was a member of the Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He was a loving and caring individual, whos family and friends meant everything to him. He loved to take trips all over the country. Carl was the kind of man to pack a bag, get in his truck , and let the road take him to whatever destination it may. Carl was an AA member and had just received his 21 year chip of sobriety. He sponsored many people over the years, and often spoke at meetings all over the country. He was grateful for his sobriety and wanted to help others going through his same struggles of the past. He wanted them to know if they could only believe in the Lord, themselves ,work the 12 steps, take things one day at a time and work to change the things they could, except the things they could not and have the wisdom the know the difference, they would get there. Carl was also a Mason. Being a Mason meant a great deal to him as his father and other family were Mason's as well. Carl's hobbies included doing his art work, cooking and traveling. Carl is proceeded in death by his mother Lois Koonce Satterwhite, his step father Weldon Satterwhite, and father Nathen York. He is survived by his daughter and son in law Michelle and Clarence(Hammer) Matthews of Iowa Park, Texas. Wife Elaine York; His grandchildren Brooke, Brittany, Dusty, and Austin.
