Calvin McKinney Morgan of Forney passed away on November 22, 2005 after a long illness.Mr. Morgan was born on January 9th, 1929 in Edom, TX to Robie Dee and Jennie Lynette Morgan.He graduated from Forney High School with the Class of 1946.His life of devoted service to others and to the church included service as a missionary and as senior pastor of several churches in north and east Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado from the 1950's to the 1990's. He served as Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Forney for many years and then as Associate Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Mesquite just before retiring from full-time ministry.After retirement, he continued as a beloved Sunday School teacher for many years at FBC Forney. In addition to his church work, Mr. Morgan served as an educator for many years in local public and private schools.He served as a teacher in the Mesquite Independent School District and as principal of Forney Middle School and then Mesquite Christian Academy between the 1970?s and the 1990?s.Mr. Morgan held a bachelor?s degree from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall and a master?s degree from East Texas State University in Commerce.He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy of Forney; his son, Curtis; daughter-in-law, Shelly; and five grandchildren:Daniel, Katie, Thomas, Sarah, and James Calvin of College Station.He is also survived by three brothers:Patrick Morgan of Kilgore, Kenneth Morgan of Terrell, and Carlos Morgan of Tyler; and three sisters:Bonnie Peterson of Ben Wheeler, Jennie Funderburk of Mesquite, and Mary Dych of Tioga, LA.He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers:Robie, Jr. and Michael; and one sister:Lucretia. Service will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 26, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Forney.Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Forney, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missions Fund of First Baptist Church Forney.
