C-Jay Purdy

C-Jay Purdy was born May 30, 1945 in Athens, TX and passed away at home on October 21, 2015 at 70 years old. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Paulette Purdy, daughter Cherri Killingsworth and her husband Weldon Killingsworth, son Dyon Purdy and his wife Lindsey Purdy, 4 grandchildren: Tanner Killingsworth, Trevor Killingsworth, Drake Purdy, and Tegan Purdy. He is also survived by his sister Bettye Waddill and her husband Hubert Waddill, brother James Purdy and his wife Lavonne Purdy, brother John Purdy and his wife Betty Sue Purdy, and sister June Poss. He also has many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Inez Hastings, step father Jake Hastings, brother Ronnie Purdy, sister Jerri Purdy, and sister Jean Joyce. C-Jay was a proud member of the United States Navy from 1962 to 1965. He was the owner and operator of C-Jay's Drywall for over 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, watching his grandsons play sports and watching Texas Tech football. When at home or traveling, his dog Karma was always by his side. C-Jay was also a life member of the Mesquite Elks Lodge and a member of the Dallas County Cowboy Church where he enjoyed hearing Pastor Mike McKinney preach and sing. Memorial Service will be held at the Dallas County Cowboy Church located at 4627 Pioneer rd Balch Springs, TX 75180. It will be at 11:00 am on Saturday October 24, 2015. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dallas County Cowboy Church Youth Group.
