Buddy Clinton Gillispie August 8, 1937-August 3, 2018 Buddy Gillispie, known to many as “Preacher”, entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Buddy was born in Rosser, Texas on August 8, 1937 to parents Pat and Irene Gillispie, and was the youngest of 9 children: sister Ivo, sister Dorothy, brother, Billy, brother, Don, sister, Patty, sister, Betty Sue, sister, Juanita, and sister Chrystelle. As a young child, the family moved to Kilgore, Texas where he attended school, graduated from Kilgore High School, and met his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ann Knox.Buddy attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas and later became a Master Machinist.He owned and operated his own business for a period of time.He served in the Texas Army Guard between 1955 and 1963.Buddy was later called to preach the Gospel, and continued to do so for 50 years.He pastored churches in Arkansas, Texas and Kentucky, and assisted in starting several new churches.He retired as pastor of Campbellsville Baptist Temple, Campbellsville, Kentucky in 2013. He is survived by his wife of 62 years; son, Gary Gillispie and wife Linda of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Karen Hovas and husband Gerald of Richardson, Texas; son, David Gillispie and wife Debbie of Canton, Texas; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. His Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:00AM at Macedonia Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. on Monday August 6 at Macedonia Baptist Church.A Memorial Service will be held in Campbellsvill, Kentucky at a later date with Pastor Jase Divens officiating.
