Buddy Edwin Copeland

Buddy Edwin Copeland, born September 27, 1941, went to be with his Lord on June 29, 2015. He attended college at Sam Houston State University and then East Texas State University where he obtained a Master’s degree in education.He spent the majority of his career in the Mesquite Independent School District, where he taught Texas history and coached football and golf.In his 38 years in Education, Buddy touched many lives.To his players he was known for his “tough love” approach. To everyone else who knew him, he was just Bud.He loved the game of golf and that was reflected in the quality of game he played.This can be verified by the many golfers he played with.Buddy also enjoyed being with his grandson, Cannon. Preceded in death by parents, Calvin “Buck” Copeland, Esta Ruth Copeland. Survived by his former wife, Ruth Copeland; children, Courtney Copeland Trietsch & husband, Chad, Cody Edwin Copeland; grandson, Cannon Cope Trietsch; sister, Ruth Ann Buchanan & brother-in-law, Tom of Eddyville, KY; special thanks to his nurse, Angie Martin. Service will be 10:00AM Friday July 3, 2015 at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale, TX. Visitation will be Thursday evening at New Hope from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. Interment will be in Mesquite City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Buddy Copeland Scholarship Fund for MISD Athlete Golf Tournament.
