Breland "Beau" Augustus Floyd, Jr.born July 6, 1936 passed away on January 26, 2016.Preceded in death by parents Breland Floyd Sr. and Blanche Griffith Floyd, daughter Mellany Floyd, sister Barbara Mink, and loved one Sue Floyd. Survived by wife Ann Weeks Floyd, they celebrated their 50th anniversary in July 2015; Daughter Carol Horton and husband Tim of Quinlan, TX; Daughter Pam Ammons and husband Randy of Valley View, TX; Grandchildren Randy Horton, Jettie-Ann Horton, Jeffrey Horton, Tabitha O'Neal, Beckett Ammons and Caden Ammons;9 great grandchildren;Brothers Wayne Floyd of Terrell, TX;Steve Floyd and wife BJ of DeSoto, TX;Brother-in-law Harold Mink of Brazoria, TX ; SIster-in-law , Jean Peterson and husband Norman of Medford; and Numerous other family and friends. Beau followed in his father's footsteps in the construction industry, a profession in which he excelled his entire career.He became a superintendent at the very young age of 21.Due to the nature of his business, he was required to move frequently until he established his residence in Mesquite in 1967.He built numerous schools in the North Texas area and took tremendous pride in his handiwork and loved to show off his schools when driving by.He made life-long friends within the industry. He was most proud of his 27 year tenure with Gallagher Construction Company. Beau was an avid camper, and he and Ann camped on a regular basis throughout their marriage with their club, their families, and as a couple.He was an inventor and created many devices that either made life easier or tickled his fancy.His family was amazed at the uses he could find for his gray duct tape. In his earlier years he loved water skiing and racing cars.He and his brothers could sit for hours on end talking about their cars both past and present.To relax, Beau fished and tinkered in his garage.In his retirement years, he was devoted to his mother-in-law, Alene Weeks, until her death in 2009.He also assumed the unofficial title of neighborhood watchman from his view from the driveway. His love of his family, Texas, a good prank, a great story, a fast car, a quiet camping spot, a bowl of ice cream, and the fish he rarely caught will give us memories to last a lifetime. We will miss our beloved Breland, Beau, Daddy, and Pawpaw.
