Billy J. Robertson was born on January 5, 1942.Affectionately known as “PeePaw” to his family, he passed away on July 9, 2017.Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Loretta (Rita) Robertson, daughters Sally McCurdy and Marye Robertson, his father Elzie (Jack) Robertson, his mother Elmer (Lena) Buchanan, sister Dorothy Barnes, and brother Alvin Buchanan.He is survived by children Tammy Pocrnich, Ricky Nichols, Jack Robertson, and Gloria Holmes, 9 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers Don Robertson and Ricky Buchanan, sisters Linda Christian and Louise Buchanan, and step-father Alvin Buchanan along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bill was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1960-1964 during the Vietnam War. He was a Life Member of the VFW Post 6796 in Dallas, Texas.He was equally as proud of his Native American heritage and to be a tribe member of the Choctaw Nation. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM also at New Hope Funeral Home. Interment will be on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our friends and loved ones who kept us in their thoughts and prayers, and for their help and support through this difficult time.
