Bettye Jean Leake

Bettye Jean Leake was born August 15, 1928 and died on November 23, 2011. She was the only child of Frontus Dewey Blackmon and Carmen Opal Hartsfield. She grew up in Golden, Texas and Dallas, Texas and graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her husband Loncy Lot Leake, Jr. in 2005. They were married 56 years. She is survived by sons, Stephen Leake & wife, Susan, David Leake & wife, Judy, & Paul (Randy) Leake & wife, Dianne; grandchildren Carissa Meyer, Sarah Leake, Andy Leake, Aaron Jordan, Shelly Ruggiano, Jim Leake, Blair Leake and Emily Leake; and six great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and community volunteer all of her life. She graduated from East Texas State University after raising her family and taught at North Mesquite High School, McWhorter Elementary School, and Eastfield College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite, Texas and was instrumental in starting the Goldenaires senior ministry there. Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite, TX. 1028 Beltline Rd. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 2:00PM. Family will receive friends at New Hope Funeral Home 6:00PM-8:00PM Friday evening November 25, 2011.
