Betty Lou Butler, age 72, of Mesquite, TX, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020. She was born February 29, 1948 in Kansas City, MO to Leland Irvin Harris and Dollie Phillips Harris..
She married Danny Howard Butler on September 13, 1969 in Dallas. One of Betty’s greatest joys was serving her Lord and her church. She served in many capacities at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mesquite Ward, including Relief Society Presidency, Primary Presidency, as a Ward Missionary and as a ministering sister. She loved serving others in any way she could and remained busy doing so. She also loved painting, reading and spreading the Gospel. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her mother Dollie in 1987 and a brother Terry Harris in 2013.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Danny Butler; father, Leland Harris (93); children, Angela R. Butler of Mesquite, Amy Lou Butler of Mesquite, David Butler of Mesquite, and Darren Butler and wife Kayla of Lawton, OK; grandsons, Matthew Butler, Aiden Butler, Elijah Butler and Keegan Butler; sister Sondra Zito of Dallas; and sister-in-law, Debbie Butler of Dallas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at New Hope Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2801 Skyline Dr., Mesquite, TX. Private interment will take place at a later date at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
