Don Burkholder, age 82, of Mesquite, TX, went to be with the Lord, May 20, 2020, in Dallas, TX, leaving a huge hole in our hearts. He was born in Covington, Virginia on January 16,1938, to Bennie and Frances Burkholder. When he was younger, he served in the United States Army. Don married Debbie in Dayton, OH, Oct 15, 1976. They then moved to Texas, where they lived their lives in Mesquite. He loved family, cars, hunting, his dogs, and smoking brisket. He had 7 children, some of us he raised from birth, some of us he raised from various ages.No matter when we came into his life, he considered us all “his.” And that is a testament to his character and an example of a true father. We were all so lucky to have him as a part of our lives. For many years, Don owned his business, but retired a few years ago. After retirement, he and Debbie and their dogs spent time around the house and at their place in the country, that he loved. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Francis; siblings, Sam, Danny, and Janet; and son Scott; He is survived by his wife Debbie, brothers Daryl and Trent of Virginia: children Kim Hurst (Doug) of Rowlett, Sandy Hewitt of Carrollton, Mike White of Dayton OH, Donnie White (Tina) of Bellbrook, OH, Julie Lofino (John) of Forney, and Tina Rutledge (Clint) of Rockwall :15 grandchildren and a loving abundance of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.Due to current circumstances, there will not be a traditional visitation/service.
