Barbara Jean Gauthier

December 13, 1931 — May 8, 2014

Barbara Jean Gauthier, former Tyler resident, entered peacefully into eternity on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at her home in Garland, TX. She was born on December 13, 1931 in West Monroe, Louisiana. She was the youngest of three girls. Barbara was a bright and shining star to her family and friends. Her service to God was demonstrated in so many ways and to countless people. She was known to make friends wherever she went, and she will be loved and remembered by everyone that knew her. She is predeceased by Herman Gauthier, her adoring husband of 57 years, and she is survived by one son, Dan Gauthier (Shiila Safer) of Wimberly, TX, and five daughters: Veronica (Don) Bradford of Houston, TX, Sharon (Brent) Lewellyn of Mesquite, TX, Karen Gauthier (Ralph Shoemaker) of Rochester, NY, Suzanne (Jim) Bell of Austin, TX, and Judy (Randall) Eagleson of Lawrenceville, GA, all of whom are honored to have had her as a mother and role model. She was also known as Granny, GiGi, and Nana to seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Additionally, our family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Winters Park Assisted Living, as well as the team from Amity Hospice for their loving care of our mother in her final days. You have blessed us beyond measure. Barbara lived life with love and dignity and it is our hope, as her children, to have you honor her in kind by joining us as we celebrate her life in the following ways: Visitation hours Sunday, May 11th from 2-4 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX. A Memorial Mass will take place on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Chapel in Tyler, TX with a reception immediately following. Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday May 13, 2014 in the DFW Memorial Cemetery.
