Barbara Ometa Chaney, age 85, of Canton, Texas died on April 18, 2016 in Rockwall, Texas. Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX.Visitation with family and friends will be on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Barbara was born on September 5, 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas to Arthur and Irene Huddle. They moved to Van, Texas in 1945 where she graduated in 1948 from Van High School. She married Buford Eugene Chaney on February 5, 1949 in Dallas, Texas and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009. They were married for 54 years before Buford passed away in 2003. Preceded in death by her husband Buford Chaney, mother and father Irene and Arthur Huddle, and brother Arthur Huddle Jr. Survived by two daughters, Barbara Ivey and Kent Henderson and Pam Campbell and husband Joe. Five Grandchildren – Brennon Ivey and Richard, Justin Ivey and Apryl, Josh Campbell and Katherine, Angela Napps and Adam, Jake Campbell and Jenna. Eleven Great Grandchildren – Jace, Justin, Jayden, Aidan, Ty, Jaxon, Avary, Taryn, Laken, Harlow, with baby Jude due in July Barbara is also survived by her best running buddy and sister-in-law Wanda Rushing and her sister-in-law Barbara Chaney in El Paso as well as numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. Barbara chose to dedicate her life to taking care of her family and home and then later enjoyed helping with the grandchildren. She loved to visit with everyone and always had a story to share. She and Buford lived in Mesquite until 1995 before they moved to Canton to enjoy their retirement.They were members of the Mesquite Church of Christ and then the Canton Church of Christ and had many lifelong friends.
