B. Jack Levescy

Dr B. Jack Levescy was born in Wolfe City, Texas on December 5, 1934. He left his earthly robe and entered the gates of heaven on January 1, 2012. He had battled Leukemia for over a year along with other health issues and suffered a brain hemorrage on Sunday morning. He is predeceased by both of his parents, his son Don, daughter Betsy, brothers Tom and Harold and sister Mattie. He is survived by his wife Anne and children Button, Vicki, Rita, Bob, Russell, Darren, Sandra, Lisa, Kelley, Michael and Catherine. The adoption of Button has been filed but was not final. He is also survived by brothers Bill and Paul and sisters Linda, Virginia, Peggy, Stella and Rosemary. He has 25 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, numerious neices, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his step-mother Emily. Dr. Jack was ordained into Christian Ministry on Feb, 20, 1955, by Southside Baptist Church, Dallas. He then moved to California and pastored churches in Hollywood and Fresno and later became the Director of Evangelism for the State of California. He returned to the Dallas area in the early 60s and pastored a church in Big Town Mall. In 1971, after a few years in Houston, he moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina. During the time in N. Carolina he was associated with Parkwood Baptist Church and developed many very close and lasting relationships. He was involved in the food service industry and owned several restaurants in the Rocky Mount area. He returned to Dallas in the early 80s and was involved in First Baptist Church, Dallas. In 1991, Dr. Jack became reunited with Dr. Joe Price whom he had known since his teen age years. Dr. Price encouraged him to began preaching again, which lead to 14 years of co-pastoring with Dr. Price at Mesquite Valley Baptist Church in Mesquite, TX. He traveled to England and stood in the pulpit of Spurgeons Tabernacle and the pulpit of The City Temple in London, which thrilled his soul. In Dec, 1996 he was awarded the Doctorate of Divinity and the Doctorate of Theology. In 2004 he moved from Mesquite to Carrollton and joined Valley View Baptist Church in Farmers Branch. Since 2004 he has been teaching and preaching whenever he was needed. He has been heavily involved in the Dallas Baptist Association and has made several mission trips to Brazil. The highlight of his nearly 60 years of ministry has been his association with the Dallas Baptist Association and the mission trips to Brazil. Over the years he has acquired an extensive library which is being donated to Dallas Baptist University. Dr. Jack was also an accomplished musician and played the guitar, mandolin and banjo. He also had a beautiful voice and sang a great deal. His one unfulfilled dream was to live in Nashville and sing on the Opry with Charlie Louvin. Service will be 2:00PM Saturday January 7, 2012 at Valley View Baptist Church, 3108 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX. 75234 Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, TX.
