Billy Joe Hill, known to most people as B. J., or lovingly referred to as B Pa by his grandchildren, passed from this life June 27, 2013 in Mesquite, Texas. He was born October 4, 1940 in Mesquite, Texas to Everette Hill Sr. and Fayleen Hill.He is preceded in death by his parents, Fayleen and Everette Hill Sr., one brother, Everette Hill Jr., one sister, Oletha Hill Tanner, one daughter-in-law, Cheri Hill, and his wife, Carolynn Hill. He is survived by one sister, Mary Riggs. Three children; Greg Hill, Lori Warden, and Tracy Nunns. Seven grandchildren; Madison Hill, Lindsey Hill, Jillian Copeland, Christine Warden, Katherine Warden, Hannah Nunns, and Andrew Nunns. Two Great Granchildren; Kylar Copeland, and Audrey Copeland. He is also survived by one Aunt, Dolly Hill, and numerous cousins. B. J. attended the Mesquite Church of Christ while growing up. He attended Mesquite High School and Abilene Christian University. He was a talented football player in both high school and college and received football scholarships. In high school, he was also a talented track team member bringing in many awards for his school at track meets. He was an all around talented athlete in his younger years. B. J. worked in the furniture business most of his life and left Smith Furniture Company in Dallas in the early 1980s to start up his own furniture business in Mesquite. He was the general manager of Smith Furniture Company leading the company to many successes during their many years of operation while working his way from the ground up to become a leader within the company. For recreation, B. J. loved boating and fishing. He loved being with his immediate and extended family members and celebrating special occasions with them. He and his wife Carolyn always looked forward to Christmas and planned special Christmas celebrations for their grandchildren each year. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who had a sense of humor and smile that could brighten a room. He will be sorely missed by his family.
