Arthur Emerson Campbell

November 13, 1932 — August 27, 2016

Arthur Emerson Campbell, 11/13/32 - 8/27/16. Art was born in Sherman, TX to Ward "Lefty" Campbell & Dorothy Heath Campbell. He graduated from Sherman HS in 1951, and was drafted into the US Army in 1953, and served as a tank commander in Germany for 2 years. Following his honorable discharge as a corporal, Art attended N. TX State University, then moved to Dallas where he began a career in the insurance industry that spanned over 40 years, followed by a 10-year career in the hospitality industry. In 1957 he met and married the love of his life, LouAnn Porter. Together they raised a family that would be Art's pride & joy. He was known as a sharp dresser, a skilled dancer, and a quick wit. He was a proud member of VFW Post 6796 where he enjoyed attending dances and other events. Art was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lorelle & Catherine, and his beloved LouAnn after 48 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Scott Campbell & wife Lorie, Andra Campbell Tomlinson & husband Robert, Susan Campbell Urrutia & husband Peter, and Heath Campbell & wife MaryAnn; his grandchildren, Ryan, Robbie & Heather, Justin & Ashlei, Drew & Alisha, Megan & Shane, Alex & Whalen, Caitlyn & Zion, Campbell, Emersen, and Samantha; his great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Shelbei, Annabelle, Jaxon, Kenny, Eli, Ryder, Isabella and Shilo; his sister, Judy Jones; and many neices, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank all the dedicated doctors & nurses and loving caregivers at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, Baylor University Medical Center, and Christian Care Center Mesquite. Art's life will be celebrated with a family visitation 8/31 5-7pm at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale. Funeral services will be 9/1 10am at New Hope, followed at 12:30 with interment at DFW National Cemetery.
