Ardyce was born to Fenton and Viola Simpson in Geddes, South Dakota on January 24, 1936.She was the only daughter after three older brothers. In July 1947, someone from her church paid her way to go to youth camp in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was during this children's camp she made her commitment to accept and serve the Lord Jesus Christ all the days of her life. At the age of 10, she was asked to play the part of Mary in the Christmas play at church. Her future husband was chosen to be Joseph and she was so embarrassed to walk down the isle at church holding the hand of her Joseph. Little did either of them know, 10 years later, they would walk down the isle to be married. Ardyce married Ken Carlson on July 20, 1956, and to that union one son was born, Loren Mark.Ardyce was for the most part, the homemaker for the family. She and Ken both grew up in the upper mid-west, but after their marriage they moved to Minneapolis where Ken finished college.Their life ministry was that of helping others and lifting the spirits of others.Ardyce continued her education to become an LVN, and did most of her nursing at Doctors Hospital. In 1987, Ardyce's mother, at the age of 87, came to live with them.As the demands for caring for her mother grew, she felt she could no longer continue nursing. After her mother's passing in 1997, she found other ways of being a blessing; she began making quilts for needy children. She saw a need and began to fill it. During the past years, she made more than 80 quilts that were given to children and the elderly to comfort them. Each quilt was prayed over as they were being made that they would be blessed by God and each recipient would experience the presence of the Lord and come to know Him in Truth. Ardyce is preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother, Darrell. She is survived by her husband, Ken, her son, Loren and wife, Cyndi; two grandchildren, Lori and Thomas, two brothers, Dann and wife, Linda Simpson and Burnell and wife, Janette Simpson, sister-in-law, Dawn Simpson; nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful and loving friends.
