Annie (Ann) Ruth Bell Costello, 84, of Forney, Texas passed away peacefully on October 20, 2018 after a brief illness.She was a devoted Christian and loving mother and friend.Ann was born on September 13, 1934 near Athens, Texas.She was the youngest of four children and grew up on a watermelon farm outside of Athens.She always loved to share her stories of growing up on the farm with her sister and two brothers.Ann graduated from Athens High School in 1952.She moved to Dallas after graduation where she started a career as a bank teller at Mercantile National Bank.While working at the bank, she met her future husband, Patrick James Costello. They were married on August 30, 1958.Ann and Pat stayed in Dallas and had three children, Monica, Tim, and Laura.In 1973, they moved to Forney to raise their children.Ann went back to banking in the late 70’s and was a bank teller at Wells Fargo in Mesquite, Texas until her retirement in 2000.During her retirement, she loved to spend time with her six grandchildren and many friends.Her favorite pass time was getting together with family and friends to play games.She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Forney for 45 years. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick James Costello; father and mother, Harry and Neily Bell; brother, Bill Bell; a number of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; and niece, Nita Hensley.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Mike Scrivner of Coppell; son, Tim Costello of Irving; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Mark Slattery of Irving; grandchildren, Ashley Scrivner, Drew Scrivner, Allison Scrivner, Billy Slattery, Ailish Slattery, and Sam Slattery; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Kenneth Hensley; brother, Tom Bell; and twenty-four nieces and nephews from the Bell and Costello families. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s memory to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Forney.
