Andrew Dwayne Moody, Jr. June 16, 1989 - March 26, 2016 Andrew Dwayne Moody, Jr. was born on June 16, 1989 in Dallas to Cheri Meek Moody and Andrew Dwayne Moody.He passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his home in Savannah, GA. Drew grew up in the Dallas area with his parents, two siblings, and a large extended family.Andrew accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as a young child while attending Casa View Baptist Church. Drew was always the protector of his friends and family, especially his little brother Ryan.With a tender heart, he cared for everyone he met and went out of his way to help when he saw a need. From a very young age, Drew lived and breathed baseball.He began playing in his first league at the age of four, and continued playing in leagues even while playing for the Seagoville High School Dragons. His favorite baseball team was the Yankees, and, though baseball was his sport of choice, he also loved Dez and the Cowboys. Drew graduated in 2007 and joined the army on July 28th that same year.In his military career he was an E-4, SPC USAR, 15D Aircraft Powertrain Repairer and was assigned to the 3-160th SOAR (Airborne).He completed numerous tours of Afghanistan and Iraq with Special Operations. Drew was Honorably Discharged from the US Army on March 17, 2015.He left the military with high-level mechanical skills and a band of brothers. After his military service, Drew served as a supervisor for RCO Aviation in Savannah, Georgia. On weekends he enjoyed playing Frisbee golf and softball, and spending time at the beach.Because of his friendly personality, he became the center of attention wherever he went. Some words his friends used to describe him include funny, mischievous, rambunctious, patriotic, stubborn, loving, and loyal.To family members, he was best known by a nickname given to him by his Mema: “Drew Bug.” Drew aggressively battled Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for several years.He volunteered with the Wounded Warrior Project, whose purpose is to battle the invisible injuries of military personnel after returning from war. Andrew is survived by his mother Cheri Meek Moody, father Andrew Dwayne Moody and his wife Lanette, his sister Andrea Day, her husband Paul, and their children Harper and Weston, his brother Ryan Moody, and sister Karragin Moody.He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Bob and Irene Meek of Seagoville; and his paternal grandmother, Bonnie Moody of Dallas and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.He is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Ashley Strehlow of Savannah, GA, and his fat boy, Porkchop. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Henry L. Moody and maternal great-grandmother Mammie Lee Williams. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale.Visitation hours will be Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5-7 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Seagoville, with the Interment at 2:00 pm at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery.
