Alta Mildred Cain Robinson

November 21, 1916 — April 9, 2009

Was born in Dallas, Texas November 21, 1916 of the union of Alton Cain and Ophelia Anderson. She grew up in a home full of love; her sister, Betty Harton, was born 12 years later completing the family. Early years were filled with care free fun, East Dallas schools and city park activities. Many friends from Woodrow Wilson High School continued to share lunch, once a month until only recently. Mildred married her high school sweetheart on April 12, 1934, Raymond R. Robinson. Their loving marriage was an example for family and friends until he joined his Lord on April 10, 1988. Buried on their 54th anniversary, he continues to be cherished in our memory. Mildred gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ when she was 6 years old. Her grandfather, her dad and in later years, her husband, were all choir directors in the church. As a child, she told her parents that when she grew up, she was never going to church again. However, she leaves a legacy of faithful service to her Lord through music in Mt. Auburn Christian Church, Urbandale Christian Church, Pleasant Grove Christian Church and Eastridge Park Christian Church. A son, David Raymond Robinson, was born December 22, 1936. Carolyn Joan was born July 4, 1939, but lived only a short time. A daughter, Shirley Joan, was born November 22, 1942. For Mildred, many of the following years were focused on her family and serving her Lord. Creative in her talents, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepoint, oil painting, china painting classes and bridge groups. After retirement, Mildred and Raymond spent many years traveling together. They spent summers mostly in Gunnison, Colorado and winters on the Gulf Coast, in Rockport, Texas. They enjoyed many friends, evenings in the recreation center; days sightseeing and fishing. She always seemed to catch the first and largest fish! Mildred loved sharing her time with her children and grandchildren, whether on trips or during time at home. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, son David and daughter, Carolyn, Mildred is survived by daughter Shirley and husband Harvey Letcher, daughter-in-law, Diane, sister, Betty Harton, sister-in-law Dorothy Cook. Grandchildren include Kimbra and husband, Steve Bratton, Lisa Beard, Gregory Wells and Christopher Robinson. Jill and husband Doug Moore, Harvey D (Trey) Letcher, III and wife Lori. Great Grandchildren include Andrew, Taylor and Kara Bratton, Caden Beard, Benson and Brooke Moore, Julia, Harvey D. (Cort) IV and Audrey Letcher. Betty will miss her sister, Shirley will deeply miss her Mother, the grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss their MeMe.
