Dr. Agustin Acosta, a cherished member of the community in Garland and Mesquite, Texas, passed away on February 26, 2024, in Rowlett, TX. He was known for his dedication to his patients as an internal medicine and gastroenterologist physician, with a career spanning over 40 years Dr. Acosta's journey began at Mesquite General Hospital where he first embarked on his mission to prioritize the well-being of those under his care.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on March 30, 1932, Dr. Acosta excelled academically and graduated with honors as one of the top three students at the University of Puerto Rico in biochemistry. His passion for medicine drove him to serve his community with unwavering commitment and compassion throughout his illustrious career.

Beyond his medical profession, Dr. Acosta was known for his multifaceted personality. His family will always remember him for his profound love, diligence, and devotion. In his leisure time, Dr. Acosta found joy in playing the organ-a skill he mastered from his days as a piano prodigy. His love for travel led him to the Caribbean beaches where he found solace and relaxation. A sports enthusiast, he never missed watching a season of the Texas Rangers or boxing matches.

Dr. Agustin Acosta is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Lydia Acosta; devoted son David Acosta; caring daughter Marla Howell and son-in-law Brian Howell; cherished granddaughter Brianna Turner; loving great-grandson Preston Brand and nephew Joe Acosta. His legacy of kindness and exceptional medical care will be eternally remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
