Mrs. Billie “Maxine” Sammann, 83, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, in Mesquite, Texas.
Maxine was born May 30, 1937 in Aley, Texas to James Monroe Gardner, Sr. and Pauline Gardner. She was married to Melvin Sammann of Hamilton, Texas.
Maxine’s career was PBX Operator at Mesquite Community and Dallas Regional Hospitals. Maxine loved taking care of her children, putting them and their needs above her own. She loved eating at Luby’s Cafeteria, she loved roses and sunflowers, and she loved talking. She grew up on a farm where she picked cotton after school. She was friendly to everybody. She was the best mom and grandma.
Maxine and Cheryl bonded when Maxine chauffeured Cheryl to all school activities. Her commitment was relentless. She said, “Pursue the things you enjoy”. They bonded for life after reading the entire collection, one book at time, of Nancy Drew, which was a special connection between a mom and daughter for life.
Maxine bonded for life with her sons, James and John, and grandson ASA by going deer hunting as a family no matter what the weather condition was, rain, sleet, or snow.
Maxine is survived by her family; sons, John and his wife Brenda of Mesquite; James of Mesquite; daughter, Cheryl of Garland; three grandchildren, Asa, Kevin, and Shawn; one brother, Sonny Gardner and his son Rusty and his daughter Leona of Seven Points.
For ever, and ever, Amen.
